Paros Museum of Popular Aegean civilization
The Paros Museum of Popular Aegean civilization is located in the installations of the Lefkes Village hotel. The Museum was founded by Mr. George Pitta, owner of the hotel, author, explorer of the Aegean Sea simadiatouaigaiou.wordpress.com and the numerous exhibits of everyday life and traditional occupations reveal a world, that even under difficult conditions , managed to live in harmony with the environment ,respecting nature and humanity. Apart from the aesthetic value and what they symbolize, they reflect on the development of the mind and culture.
The exhibits are separated in different units:
- The rock unit (obsidians, heavy spar, perlite, kaolin, marbles, etc.)
- The steel industry unit (tools, building elements, verandas’ rails)
- The pottery unit (earthenware jars, pitchers, pots from all the islands of the Aegean)
- The furniture unit which occupies the biggest part of the Paros Museum and includes furniture from all the social environments and regions of the Aegean.
- The Aegean folklore architecture unit with instructive drawings.
- Relative thematic photographic reports are presented each year for display in the Paros Museum, while a rich library and file with DVD/Video supplement the plunge into the Folklore Culture of the Aegean.
